Burn Big Lunch – Sunday 7 June from 2pm at The Wheatsheaf, live music. Full details are in the village newsletter, which will be delivered to every household over the next few days.

With a record of eighteen consecutive lunches since 2009 (with ‘virtual lunches’ in 2020 and 2021 thanks to the pandemic) we’re proud of the amounts the lunches, together with our Christmas events, have raised for charity over the years. To those who haven’t attended before, it’s all free for Burn residents and just £5 a head for your guests/visitors (all under-12s attend for free). This nominal charge goes towards paying for the marquee, the BBQ meat, the bread buns and relishes and, of course, the band!

Please make sure you book a place by our deadline of Tuesday 26 May – Andy and Jo at the pub need to order burgers & sausages and Burn’s ‘elves’ need to plan ahead re bread buns etc. There’ll be paper plates, tables and some chairs provided, but if you can bring any picnic chairs plus extras like salads, desserts or nibbles to share around that would be appreciated.

Storage – the parish council is pleased to report that thanks to a member of Burn’s farming community, a new secure storage unit at much lower cost has been found and all the ‘village bits’ (Santa’s sleigh, Christmas lights, plastic tables and chairs etc.) have been relocated there.

Play area West Lane corner – the equipment has now arrived and we await a completion date. We will need volunteers for regular safety checks, cleaning and general maintenance once the playground is operational as it will be incumbent on the parish council to keep it safe and fit for use.  Please contact the Clerk if you can help: burnparishcouncil@outlook.com

Christmas tree lights sponsorship – we will be taking orders for these again in the next few months. Information on how to reserve a tree and payment details will be publicised soon.Christmas Lights 2026: with a likely date of Saturday 28 November, our idea for this year’s VIP ‘switcher-onner’ is that it should be one of Burn’s younger residents. Under 18’s (plus responsible adult!) will be eligible to enter our ‘Be our Christmas lights VIP’ draw to join Santa and his elves at the festivities – watch out for further information over the summer
