Congratulations to Jo and Andy who were presented with a plaque on Saturday 11 October to recognise the 1,100 member York area CAMRA awarding The Wheatsheaf the group’s Pub of the Season 2025.

York CAMRA committee member Colin Young has been a regular for decades, thanks to his dad being born in the village, and recommended the pub to the group.

Andy and Jo have run the Wheatsheaf since 2005 – with Andy also working for previous owners Ian and Kate Murray.

Jo says: “We have weathered a number of storms like the smoking ban, Covid and more so to be still be here in our twentieth year is a real milestone especially in an industry which is increasingly challenging.”

“We feel this award proves that we are still doing something right and we are being recognised for that.”

“We have an amazing community and a loyal customer base, some of whom have been with us since the beginning of trading so we do owe them a big thank you for their support and to Colin Young from CAMRA who nominated us for the award.”
