Villagers will be aware that Campeys Haulage applied to build a large scale warehouse, workshop and offices at land near the bypass adjacent to the Selby Canal. Having been refused by planning at North Yorkshire Council, Campeys submitted an appeal to the Planning Inspectorate.
Having considered the arguments the Planning Inspector Katie McDonald dismissed the appeal on the grounds of location, scale and impact on the local countryside.
Alice Houlden, Burn Parish Council Chair said ‘This is welcome news for the villages of Burn and Brayton as the impact, as the Planning Inspector has outlined in her report, the scale and location of the development would be detrimental to the local countryside. As a parish council we have always been of the view this development would have been in the wrong location for many reasons.”
