Cadets from the Combined Cadet Force at the Read School, Drax joined residents and visitors in Burn on Sunday November 10 to mark Remembrance.
The cadets, accompanied by Pilot Office Annette Oliver, OC RAF Section and family members, laid the wreath honouring the Royal Canadian Air Force 431 ‘Iroquois’ (The Snowbirds) Squadron at the service which was led by lay preacher Dave Sample on behalf of Burn Methodist Chapel.
Burn airfield saw members of the Royal Air Force and Royal Canadian Air Force fly out on missions over enemy territory during the Second World War.
Burn Parish Council chairman Alice Houlden said: “It was a pleasure to welcome the cadets, who have been tidying Burn ‘village green’ as part of their commitment to be of service and engage with local communities and it is an added bonus that Burn Airfield and the memorials have such strong RAF connections.”
