Another great Burn Big Lunch! Our 18th consecutive (we’re still counting the virtual events of 2020 and 2021!) ‘bit of a do’ raised over £300 for the Spirit of Christmas charity and welcomed 160-plus Burn residents, extended family, friends and pub regulars to enjoy an afternoon of 50s and 60s music from the Horse Thief band, a BBQ, and a quiz (won by the Craven family). And it was lovely to see so many new faces – we hope everyone had a really good time.
Good to have Katie and Joe here from the Eden Project, which created the Big Lunch in 2009 and also our ‘Baroness of Burn’ Elly Fiorentini from BBC Radio York who switched on our Xmas lights back in 2011.
Big thanks are due to Andy, Jo and The Wheatsheaf staff, all our ‘village elves’ and volunteers who made setting up and clearing up so much easier and to Morrisons for vouchers towards BBQ sundries.
